Case Study – Building Confidence and Self-Esteem
Support delivered by Bolton Toy Library as part of the Perinatal/Family Support Programme
Mum was referred via the Bolton Together Hub, she was living in Fortalice and required social play opportunities for daughter and to access support for herself. Initially Mum lacked self-worth and confidence (Ameera is 2 years old and has witnessed domestic violence) we encouraged Mum to attend a one-to-one session to help with her anxieties and depression. Following 3 visits of one to one sessions she felt more confident and stronger to attend a peer to peer drop in. She slowly gained confidence with staff support and was able to participate in group, sharing her experiences of poor night’s sleep etc with other parents. We are building on her skills, keeping in contact with the Health Visitor to record progress.
